Anonymous: Thanks for answering my question about supporting Israel. Your take makes sense. It's so hard with the media to get different takes on the issue. x

Of course! I love talking about this stuff, so don’t be afraid to ask me if you ever have any questions.

Anonymous: I'm not trying to cause any issues/conflict (I'm genuinely curious), why do you support Israel? xx

Of course! By the way, I like how you phrased this instead of yelling at me like has happened in the past. Sorry if this is a long answer, but here you go.

I’ve always been a Zionist (the belief that Israel should exist). I’m Jewish and was taught that Israel is my home.

I support Israel because Gaza (mainly Hamas) rejects Israel’s right to exist. Israel wants to live in peace and offers land to Gaza, but they say no and keep shooting rockets. They won’t accept the offer and instead want all of Israel. I don’t understand why they can’t just take what they’ve been given. There are so many Muslim states but only one Jewish one.

The media makes Israel look bad, but that’s really not the full story. Hamas hides rockets in homes, schools, and hospitals. A few days ago, rockets were found in a UN school in Gaza…for the second time.

Also, the IDF (Israeli Defense Forces) blow up rocket sites, which happen to be homes, schools, and hospitals. This is where civilians reside. The IDF drops leaflets and sends text messages to civilians urging them to evacuate so that they can destroy the weapons without harming the people. Unfortunately, Hamas tells the people to ignore the warnings and threatens them if they escape. Since Israel is the one that physically blew up the site, the media and many other people blame Israel, when in reality, civilians are dying at the hands of their own government.

I also hope that you don’t think I’m anti-Gaza. I’m absolutely not. I firmly believe that everyone deserves a place to call home. However, there must be peace in order for Gaza and Israel to lay side by side, but that doesn’t seem like it’s going to happen anytime soon.

P.S. My Jewish youth group had a talk with a member of the Israeli embassy about what’s happening now. He touched on the “dead baby strategy,” which is when Hamas releases photos and videos of dead civilians, hoping to invoke sympathy and increase their support. It’s terrible that civilians are dying, but it’s even worse that Hamas uses civilians as human shields and blames Israel.

I know I’m not supposed to let this get to me, but shut the fuck up. I know I’m fat. I tell myself that every day when I run my fingers over the stretch marks on my body and pinch the fat all over my body. Funny thing is, you’re saying this like I don’t already know.
